Yupil Chon is a Director of da-Collective Co. in Los Angeles. He serves as Lead Designer and Director-in-Charge for the studio's major projects, including 3 - 11 story Hotel towers / Casino / Conference Center / Retail and 15,000 - seat Event Center / Arena in Korea.

 

Prior to da-Collective, as a Project Manager, Senior Associate with Aedas Los Angeles, Yupil worked on large-scale commercial and sports projects including Arena, and 10,000sm canopy structure for Universal Studios Beijing. He practiced in Gensler as a Project Architect and worked on 800,000sf Basketball Arena in Shenbei, China and $120m Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia Eagles, Stadium project that included 2,000 additional seats and VIP suites and concession / main concourse renovation and completed the project in 2014. Yupil also led the exterior enclosure team for 265,000sf Broad Museum in 2012 with collaboration with Diller Scofidio as an Executive Architect in Gensler. Furthermore, he worked on various creative office, high rise projects such as 15 story Sunset Bronson Studio in Los Angeles and Riot Games HQ campus in Los Angeles and oversaw construction administration to its completion. His practice also includes high-end Tenant Improvements of creative office spaces including Capital Group, Hyundai Capital, and Culver Studios.

 

In 2007, while with Adamson Associates, he worked on various mixed-use, high rise tower projects in US and Abu Dhabi such that facilitates from offices to residential / hotel towers, along with large institutional and transportation projects including Guggenheim Museum in Abu Dhabi and Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco. Additionally, he worked as a project leader to complete twin - 37 story Veer Tower and MGM City Center in Las Vegas in 2008 where each tower houses 335 luxury condominium component with 17m sf. mixed-use, urban complex in the heart of Las Vegas. He also led 43 story Figueroa Condo project in Los Angeles with entitlement process that included 273 unit residential condos with 7 story of retail podium / parking / restaurant and spa.

 

Yupil's focus as a Director has been main emphasis on project delivery from its inception of the project to final completion for past 20 years of his experience.
